P.S. An artillery brigade is a tactical formation consisting of several artillery divisions, each of which, in turn, includes several batteries. The battery, in turn, was the main firing unit, consisting of 4-8 guns. Artillery brigades could include both light and heavy guns, as well as guns of various systems. For example, the heavy artillery brigades of 1917 could include 280-mm Schneider howitzers, 12-inch OSZ howitzers, 6-inch guns and howitzers, as well as 120-mm French guns and howitzers. The batteries could include guns mounted on various platforms, including field, siege and coastal.
