The medal "In memory of the Russo-Japanese War" along with the Alexander-George Ribbon was awarded to the military, who took part in the Russo-Japanese conflict. Also, priests, medical workers, as well as other persons who were in the service and distinguished themselves in military operations, were encouraged by the distinction. The Alexander-St. George Ribbon was established along with the medal on January 21, 1906 by a corresponding decree of Nicholas II.
