P.S. "Koksohimmontazh" originates from the construction department, established on September 14, 1930, at the All-Union Coke and Chemical Industry Association - Soyuzkoks. In the initial period of industrialization of the country, coking production needed a radical reconstruction: instead of the existing separate shops and facilities for processing coal, it was necessary to create a modern coke-chemical industry.
In 1931, the construction department was reorganized into self-supporting management as a trust under the name "Koksohimontazh", whose tasks include the reconstruction and expansion of existing enterprises, the implementation of new construction, installation and commissioning of coke plants.
In the period from 1930-1933, the trust completed the construction of six coke-chemical plants in Ukraine, which had been started earlier. In 1934-1936 the trust built complexes of ten coke batteries of the Becker system in the Donbass and Dnieper regions. At the same time, the trust began to spread its sphere of activity to the Urals. In 1935 the Nizhnetagilskoe construction department was organized - the first management of the trust in the Urals.
In the system of the People's Commissariat of Construction, the trust "Koksohimontazh" became the leading specialized organization for the construction of coke and chemical plants. The trust has formed permanent qualified personnel of fire-fighters and installers, and also based on the experience of foreign and domestic specialists, developed a single technology for all construction projects for masonry, installation and firing of coke batteries.
In the first months of the war, during the reorganization of the construction industry, the "Koksohimmontazh" trust was transformed into a special construction and installation part - OSHR No. 10 "Koksohimontazh" and evacuated to the Urals: to Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk. The trust subdivisions received the names of special construction and assembly departments. At the same time, the specialization of the trust for refractory masonry and installation of equipment for coke plants continued.
