In the USSR, on the 53 sports athletes introduced the following classification: sportsman youth category (II youth and junior level I), III category athlete category II of the athlete, the athlete of class I, master of sports of the USSR. Additionally checkers - athlete category IV, chess - athlete IV and V bits, chess and checkers - candidate master and grand master of the USSR.
Youth sports categories (II and I) are assigned to athletes 15 - 18 years, completed the stipulated discharge standards and requirements and passed the full set of rules BGTO or TRP complex, in accordance with their age. In swimming, figure skating, diving, rhythmic and artistic gymnastics, acrobatics and sport aircraft modeling allowed the assignment of junior sports categories athletes 12 - 14 years. From the young athletes 12 - 14 years Completion BGTO standards is not required.
