Later, the family moved to Obaralovka, where at that time lived grandma and grandfather Oleg [6], and then to Moscow and settled in the stadium "Dynamo". My father drank heavily and in 1941 was sent to prison. My mother got married a second time and changed her surname.
In 1943, Oleg entered as an apprentice mechanic at the printing factory Pravda.
In the following, in 1944, while practicing in the circle of acrobatics of the Sports Palace "Wings of the Soviets", he met with the students of the circus school, visited their rehearsals. In the same year, Oleg entered the State College of Circus Art, which ends in 1950 with a specialty "eccentric on wire."
He began his career as an equilibristist, speaking with the number "Eccentric on a loose wire" (director-teacher S. Morozov). In 1951 he made his debut as a clown clown in the Saratov Circus [7].
Officially, he became a clown in 1951 in the Riga Circus [8]. Finally firmly established in this role in the Youth Circus under the leadership of the famous clown of Pencil (1951-1953).
Oleg Popov created the artistic image of the "Sunny Clown" - a cheerful fellow with a pile of straw hair in deliberately wide striped trousers and a checkered cap. In his speeches he uses such techniques as balancing, acrobatics, juggling, parodying of circus numbers, but the main place in his performances is occupied by the entre, solved by means of buffoonery and eccentrics. Among the best reprises of Oleg Popov - "Cook", "Whistle", "Ray".
The participant of many television programs, in particular, took part in the children's television program "Alarm Clock". Often acted in film, most often cameo, acted as the director of circus performances.
